Kat/Lena 9/27 AM Practice Session: LL

We had a great session this morning!

First we practiced LL against smelly cups (I got the date wrong in the video 🤪)-

Lena did great! She needed one correction and then she stuck to me like glue and actually tried to avoid the distractions— even though they still smelled so good to her!

Next we got some water and did some quiet time, and she settled right down.

She is definitely learning the process and what to expect! She is a smart little love!

Mary and Lena, CV Park Tuesday morning 9/24/24

It was another pleasant morning working with sweet Lena. I brought Ellie along as a little distraction. Lena didn’t fall for it. Smart dog!!!

Lena’s doing so well on the Longe line. She patiently waited while I tied my shoe lace!

Then we did quiet time til Suzanne arrived.

Lesson 1 Recap: Introduction to Inverted Longe Line & Quiet Time

Suzanne and Team,

Lena successfully completed all of her Lesson 1 training sessions last week.  Every one of us are impressed with how wonderful Lena is and how much she seems to thoroughly enjoy 'the training'.  She is a delight to work with and we all appreciate Lena's wagging tail and soft temperament.

This week is, officially, 'Week 1' of the FOUNDATION Course.  This week we up the ante on working Lena against many 'distractions' (anything she finds interesting). This week Lena will do the Week 1 EXAM with each of her handlers. Lena must pass her Week 1 EXAM with each of us to go onto next week's work, the 6' leash work.

All in all, this was a great week despite a few hiccups on scheduling. Hopefully, the printed and posted weekly schedule, with handler names/phone numbers + the time/date/who/where for each training session, will streamline the process and make for an easier week.

Again, the reason Lena is doing 1-2 training sessions each day is because of her soft temperament, size, and the condition of her body.  Soft dogs usually have little physical or mental stamina, so they tire out quickly. Doing several smaller sessions daily gives Lena much needed time to be rested for each training session and keeps her at her mental peak so the training is easy for her.

We are sure enjoying her!
