10-2-24 Week 2, Day 3, morning with Kat/Lena.

Lena and I had a great session today! Suzanne pulled in when I was just finishing up with Riley, and I think my training with Riley startled Suzanne a little bit, so I want to let Suzanne know I will never correct Lena with the collar the way I was correcting Riley. Sweet Riley is a very different dog than Sweet Lena, and Roxanne teaches us to adapt our training to each individual dog. ❤️

Today we started with our longe line warmup:

Next, because I hadn't done sits with her in a while, I tried a few 'auto-sits' on a yoga mat on top of the table. I figured this would let me work with less leash and get her used to the mechanics without this giant-swoopy-thing hovering over her.

Finally, we did some actual heeling with the auto-sits. My boots were big and clunky so I took them off, in case they were too intimidating. She also initially shied away from the place boards that were there so I made sure to work her over them so she could start getting used to them. ☺️

Part of this heeling video includes the modified mechanics I was considering using with her for our day 5-6 auto-sits and exam. Roxanne, Jessi, Mary, Trina, will you review and let me know what you think, and let me know if there is a better way to modify those mechanics?

Suzanne, thank you so much for trusting me with Lena! She is a joy to work with. ❤️
